LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 29, 2004--Signifying that Las Vegas is synonymous with action, in the casino and on the big screen, the Palms Casino Resort and Maloof Productions will host the World Premiere of the 20th Century Fox and Regency Enterprises film ELEKTRA, starring Jennifer Garner. The event will take place at Brenden Theatres at the Palms on Saturday night, January 8.
In the movie, Jennifer Garner returns as ELEKTRA, a warrior who stands in the center of the ultimate battle between good and evil, in the first action event film of the year. The film is directed by Rob Bowman and will be released nationwide on January 14.
«It’s a pleasure to roll out the red carpet for Jennifer Garner and 20th Century Fox,» stated Palms owner George Maloof. «I hope it symbolizes a greater willingness of Hollywood to look to the thrill of Las Vegas for some of its most exciting premieres, and specifically the Palms Casino Resort, the most exciting destination just off the Strip.»
The exclusive event starts at 7:00 p.m. with the red carpet arrival of stars from the film including Jennifer Garner and Goran Visnjic. Others attending will include the Maloof family, Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman and the beautiful Palms Girls. At approximately 8:00 p.m. ELEKTRA will premiere in Brenden Theatres. Following the screening, Rain Nightclub will become Elektra-fied beginning at 10:00 p.m. At the event, Clark County Commissioner Lynette Boggs McDonald and Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman will also present the Maloof family with a Proclamation for «Palms Elektra Day.» The Palms will release a limited edition $10 ELEKTRA Commemorative Casino Chip beginning Thursday, January 6th at 10:00 a.m.

Citing illness, Jennifer Garner has abruptly canceled a spate of TV appearances to promote the return of Alias and her upcoming feature Elektra. Inside Edition reports that Garner has a nasty viral infection and will be laid up for at least a week. Her rep, meanwhile, is dismissing tabloid reports that the actress is preggers.

Elektra: I was summarily bummed when Elektra, the dad-avenging, blade-throwing kick-butt-ress played by Jennifer (Alias) Garner, was apparently bumped off in Daredevil. That’s mostly because she was the best thing about that otherwise dull Ben Affleck comic book flick. But mourning apparently does not become Elektra, because girlfriend’s back and she’s Ginsu-tastic! And she’s brought ER hottie Goran Visnjic with her. Thank you, Elektra!

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 5, 2005--You can’t keep a good superhero down, as Jennifer Garner proved today, announcing that despite a painful injury that has sidelined her for over a week, she will attend this Sunday’s (1/9) gala Las Vegas premiere of ELEKTRA.
In ELEKTRA, the first action event film of the year, Garner stars in the title role as a strong, mysterious and sexy action heroine. But her on-screen abilities pale next to the real-life challenges she has overcome to commit to the event. Garner initially was thought to be suffering from a viral infection, but doctors today concluded that the Golden Globe(R) Award-winning actress has nerve damage resulting from a stunt she performed recently.
For the past two weeks, Garner has had to cancel extensive publicity activities on behalf of both ELEKTRA and the «Alias» season premiere, including a hosting gig on «Saturday Night Live» and the film’s press junket.
But Garner insisted that the «show must go on» for the Las Vegas event, which will see the Palms Casino and Hotel «Elektra-fied» with a 30-foot, pyrotechnically-enhanced billboard (in Elektra’s signature red) and even special ELEKTRA red gambling chips and blackjack table felt in the Casino.

Giuliana DePandi voice over: “I also played some blackjack with co-star, Goran Visnjic.” She sits next to Goran at a blackjack table, places a chip on the table and loses the hand.

Goran reacts, saying: “Naw! Bye, lucky dollars.” [As he waves goodbye to her lucky dollar chip].

Giuliana DePandi: “Bye, bye.”
